Argon (Ar) is a colourless, odourless, non-reactive, inert gas. In high concentrations, it has an asphyxiating effect. As argon is an atmospheric gas (0.93% vol.), it is generally sourced by separating air. Argon is produced at our air separation plant along with Oxygen and Nitrogen.

Argon has many different applications in many industries. The most common one is as a shielding gas for arc welding – either in pure form or as part of various mixtures. It is one of the main gases used in filling mixtures for incandescent (filament) lamps, phosphorescent tubes and thyratron radio tubes. Argon is also widely used in laser technology and in the labs.

We provide argon in both liquid and gaseous form. The argon gas is delivered by 40L, 50L cylinders and pallets or refilled in the refilling station in the factory. The liquid argon is distributed by LGC, ISO tank or pumped directly at the factory.

What is Argon gas?

Industrial argon gas has many applications in daily life as well as in production. Industrial argon gas is widely used in many industries such as: used as an inert gas medium, for inert gas metal welding and inert gas tungsten welding. In the semiconductor manufacturing industry, Argon is a protective layer for culturing silicon and germanium crystals…etc.
Argon is a chemical element with the symbol Ar and atomic number 18. It is in group 18 of the periodic table. As the third noble gas in group 8, Argon makes up about 0.934% of the Earth’s atmosphere, making it the most common noble gas on Earth.

Application of pure argon gas

Pure Argon gas is the most commonly used inert welding and shielding gas for most TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding applications of aluminum and stainless steel copper and cast iron. It is most commonly used when welding aluminum and stainless steel in thin form. Is Argon gas toxic to humans?

Pure Argon is not harmful to humans, Argon has no warning properties. Humans have no senses that can detect the presence of argon. Argon is non-toxic and largely inert. It can act as an asphyxiant simply by reducing oxygen in the air to a level lower than is needed to support life.

Pure argon is stored, transported and handled in several types of containers, depending on the quantity required by the user. The types of containers in use are Dewar, cryogenic liquid cylinder and cryogenic container.
The amount of storage varies from a few liters to many thousands of gallons. Since there is always a heat leak, the vaporization process takes place continuously. The rate of vaporization varies depending on the design of the container and the volume of product stored. Containers are designed and manufactured to the codes and specifications applicable to the relevant temperatures and pressures.

Industrial Argon gas preservation

Store and use Pure Argon with adequate ventilation. Do not store in a confined space. The cryogenic containers are equipped with pressure relief devices to control the internal pressure. Under normal conditions, these containers will periodically vent the product. Do not plug in, remove, or tamper with any pressure relief devices.
Never allow any unprotected part of the body to come into contact with pipes or uninsulated equipment containing frozen product. Extremely cold metal will cause meat to quickly stick and tear when people try to pull it out.
